Do you want to change your neighborhood or the world?

 

Are you currently leading a community organization, nonprofit, or mission-driven business?

 

Do you have an idea for a project or organization you’d like to start?

 

Do you want to learn how to transform an idea into a project or organization that makes an impact?

 

If you answer yes to any of these questions, you should attend our Bootcamp!

Each year, through a competitive application process, Social Innovation Lab selects up to ten promising non-profits and mission-driven businesses and provides them with funding, mentorship, and more to help them make an impact and grow. This Bootcamp is a one-day, condensed version of our program for people who want to gain or enhance the skills essential for launching and leading a community project, nonprofit, or mission-driven business. Breakfast and lunch will be provided.

Gain skills and make meaningful connections:

- 100% of attendees at our last bootcamp reported that they gained a new skill or insight that they will apply in their work
- 90% of attendees at our last bootcamp reported that they made meaningful connections with other attendees that will lead to collaborations and partnerships

At this Bootcamp, you will learn:

- How to identify a potential solution to a social issue
- How to develop that potential solution into a viable project idea
- Steps to take in order to launch a new project
- How to find funding and other support for your work
- Resources to help you succeed in launching and leading a project

This Bootcamp is ideal for:

- Anyone who wants to learn how to develop an idea into a viable project that makes an impact
- Current or aspiring changemakers, community leaders, and social entrepreneurs
- Individuals or teams currently launching or leading community projects, nonprofits, or mission-driven businesses
- Students to retirees (and everyone in between)

Leading change as a social entrepreneur

Participants will explore what it takes to be a social entrepreneur – the mindset, commitment, etc. – and articulate a leadership vision for themselves and establish personal goals for launching a social venture or community project.

10:15- 10:45am

Building bridges to community impact

Participants will learn strategies for working with existing community groups and building relationships and effective partnerships.

11:00am-12:00pm

From idea to impact: putting your idea into action

This session with take participants through the process of turning their idea for a social venture or community project into a plan with actionable steps and measureable milestones.

12:00-1:00pm

Lunch & Keynote Speaker

Shantell Roberts, The Portable Alternative Crib

Funding a social venture or community project

Participants will learn strategies and common pitfalls for funding new ventures and projects.

1:45-2:15pm

Fiscal sponsorship

This session will provide background on fiscal sponsorship as a way to establish basic non-profit operations (such as tax-exempt status, accounts receivable and payable, and donation acceptance) while reducing administrative burden.

2:30-3:30pm

Social entrepreneurs roundtable

This session will be a candid discussion among participants and a panel of changemakers and social entrepreneurs, sharing personal insights and strategies for successfully launching and leading a social venture or community project.

3:30-4:00pm

Closing & Announcements
